No. 1 Lady Blues to host South Central Regional

TOPEKA, Kan - The MIAA regular season and postseason tournament champions were selected as one of eight regional hosts for the 2006 NCAA Division II Women's Basketball Championship. The No. 1 ranked Lady Blues are the defending champion, who won their NCAA-tying Division II record of 49 straight wins dating back to last season, gaining a share of the record with North Dakota State. The tournament games will take place Friday, March 10 through Monday, March 13.
The Lady Blues will face the Heartland Conference Tournament Champion St. Mary's Lady Rattlers, who is the No. 8 seed is 17-12 this season. The two teams will square off at 7:30 p.m.
No. 4 seeded Angelo State (22-8) will play the No. 5 seeded Central Missouri State Jennies (21-9) at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
Lonestar conference postseason champion West Texas A&M is the No. 2 seed and will play its first round game against LSC North foe Northeastern State, seeded seventh at 2 p.m. on March 10.
The No. 3 is Emporia State, who enters the tournament with a 25-4 record. They will take on the No. 6 seeded Tarleton State (19-9) at 12 p.m. on Friday.
The winners of the WTAMU/NSU and ESU/TSU games will move on to play on Saturday, March 11 at 5 p.m. The winner of the WU/SMU and ASU/CMSU games will battle at 7 p.m.
The winners of the semifinal contests will advance to the Women’s Elite Eight March 22, 23 and 25 at Summit Arena in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Henderson State University and the Hot Springs Convention Center will host the Elite Eight.
