Ichabod lose pair of 1-run games to Fort Hays State

HAYS – A run in the bottom of the first of the first game and a run in the bottom of the seventh of the second game were the differences as the Ichabods lost a pair of one-run games at 24th-ranked Fort Hays State Saturday afternoon. Jeff LaCerte allowed just four hits in the first game, going the distance and walking two, but an RBI double in the opening inning was all the Tigers needed for a 1-0 win as the Ichabod bats could not produce. In the second game Washburn built a 3-0 lead late in the game but FHSU got them back in the sixth and then got the winning run on a single in the seventh to take the night cap 4-3. Michael Hammersmith and Mark Stoltz each homered each homered for WU.
