Smith, Sissom and Head earn All-MIAA honors

Washburn outfielder Dylan Smith, designated hitter Sam Sissom and shortstop Jerad Head were a part of the All-MIAA baseball team, which was announced Monday.

Smith, a senior from Maple Hill, Kan., led Washburn with a .426 batting average this season by pounding out 72 hits. He scored 44 runs and had 39 RBI, which were team highs. He finished his career with 201 hits, which ranks third in Washburn history. He was an honorable mention All-MIAA selection the past two seasons.

Sissom, a freshman from Kansas City, Mo., hit .368 with 39 hits in 106 at bats for the Ichabods. He collected three hits in a game three times, including a 3-for-3 performance against Missouri Southern on April 18.

Head, a freshman from Topeka, hit .330 for the Ichabods after joining the team at the conclusion of basketball season. He collected three hits in a game twice and smacked two home runs to drive in 17 runs.
