Smith earns all-region honors

Washburn outfielder Dylan Smith was named to the All-Central Region first team which was announced by the American Baseball Coaches Association.

Smith, a senior from Maple Hill, Kan., led Washburn with a .426 and collected 72 hits to rank seventh in Washburn single season history. He collected seven doubles and hit a team-high four home runs, while driving in 39 runs and stealing 24 bases.

Smith was also named first team All-MIAA and Most Valuable Player for the Washburn baseball squad at WashburnÕs Senior/MVP Awards Banquet on May 7.

During his four-year career at Washburn Smith tallied 201 hits, which ranks third in Washburn history. He is also third in career at-bats (582), tied for seventh in career RBI (115) and 10th in career runs scored (116) in Washburn history.
