TOPEKA - The Washburn Ichabods used a fourth quarter comeback for a 30-23 win over Missouri Western on homecoming and senior day in Yager Stadium. The Ichabods' Tyler Schuerman hooked up with Sam Sissom with 21 seconds remaining for the win. With the win, the Ichabods have lifted their record to 6-4, recording a winning season for the first time since 1999. The Ichabods' MIAA record now stands at 5-3, recording a winning season for the first time in conference play since joining the MIAA.

After the Griffons tied the score at 23 with 5:09 remaining, the Ichabods drove to the Griffon 23. The Ichabods attempted a 40-yard field goal, but it was blocked and the Griffons took over at their own 38. The Ichabod defense forced the Griffons into a three and out. After a 16-yard punt return to the Washburn 35, the Ichabods took over with 50 seconds on the clock.

The Ichabods Schuerman rushed for 22 yards to the Missouri Western 43. After a pass to Rashawn Bland to the 39 and a 23 yard pass to Sissom, the Ichabods had first down on the 16. The Ichabods stopped the clock. On a 2nd-and-10, Schuerman hit Sissom for the winner.

When the Griffons tied the score at 23, the Ichabods' Jake LeBahn used all of his 6-foot-4 body to block the extra point that would have given the Griffons the lead at 24-23.

Missouri Western opened the scoring with a 23-yard field goal by Michael Cooper. The Ichabods responded by Ra'Shawn Mosley capping an 84-yard drive with a 5-yard touchdown run. Mosley finished the day with a career-high 170 yards on 26 carries and three touchdowns.

Schuerman had 69 yards rushing and was sacked three times. He was 15 of 29 for 202 yards passing. Sissom had five receptions for 72 yards. Mike Odupitan had four catches for 45 yards.

The Ichabod defense limited Missouri Western to 89 yards of total offense in the first half. Blake Meyer had a career-high 16 tackles in the win with eight solo stops. Grant Gould had 16 tackles for the Ichabods as well.
