Blue team wins Spring Game

TOPEKA - Ichabod senior placekicker Connor Sabel kicked three field goals in the Washburn Blue/White Spring game pacing the Blue Squad to a 9-0 win. Sabel kicked field goals of 36-, 46- and 38-yards in the game that was played at Hummer Sports Park in Topeka while the Yager Stadium turf is undergoing its field rennovation. The Blue squad, made up of the Ichabods first team defense dominated giving up only 7 yards rushing allowing three first downs by the White team. Sophomore A.J. Patterson led the Blue team with 33 yards rushing while redshirt freshman Beau Wofford was 9 of 19 for 95 yards. The Blue's running back tandem of senior Trent Hearn and junior Ra'Shawn Mosley were held to 24 yards rushing on 11 attempts. Junior Jordan Brill was 8 of 16 for 70 yards passing. On defense, senior defensive tackle Trey Lewis led the Blue defense with five tackles, three of those for loss. Sophomore Eric Lawrence had two sacks. Leading the White team defense were junior safety Erin Beck and redshirt freshman defensive tackle Ben Bianchino with six tackles. Bianchino added four tackles for loss and three sacks. The Ichabods will have three practice days available next week to conclude the 15-session spring drills.
