The Washburn Ichabod football team placed four members on the all-MIAA
second team with an additional six being named to the honorable mention
squad.
Tyler Schuerman snapped the schools total offense record with 2,644
yards, the school rushing touchdown mark with 16, the freshman passing
mark with 1,936 yards and led the team in scoring with 96 points.
Schuerman also set the school record for total offensive touchdowns
with 26. He was fifth in the MIAA in total offense with 240 yards
per game.
On the second team was junior fullback Brandon Rainer, senior center
Jared Barge, senior kicker Chad Todd and freshman defensive lineman
Eric Taylor.
Rainer was second on the team in rushing with 615 yards scoring eight
touchdowns. His 68.3 yards per game average was seventh in the MIAA.
Barge anchored the offensive line as the Ichabods set numerous WU
records including single season rushing, scoring and first downs.
Todd leaves Washburn as the top scoring kicker in school history.
Todds 42 point after touchdowns set a new record. Todd finished
his career second on the all-time scoring charts with 210 points.
Todd hit 36 field goals in his career for a new WU record. Todd also
connected 102 point after touchdowns for another WU record.
Taylor finished third in the MIAA in sacks with six and tied for
second with three forced fumbles.
Representing the Ichabods on the honorable mention team were senior
wide receiver Joe Banks, junior wide receiver Colon McNeal, sophomore
offensive lineman Jermaine Smith, senior defensive lineman Buck Reuter,
senior linebacker Corey Phipps and senior defensive back Clarence
Williams.
The Ichabods finished the season 5-6.
