The top-ranked and defending national champion Northwest Bearcats
rained on the Family Day parade for the Washburn Ichabods with a 63-21
victory at Moore Bowl.
The Bearcats took their opening drive 80 yards in 10 plays for a
touchdown and never looked back, pouring on nine touchdowns for the
day.
Washburn got on the board to make it 28-7 late in the first half
at 4:44, when Tyler Schuerman hooked up with Colon McNeal for a 64-yard
touchdown pass.
Corey Crain scored two second half touchdowns, including a 4-yard
run to open the second half and a 27-yard reception with 2:55 left
in the game.
Crain rushed for 94 yards on seven carries, while Schuerman passed
for 249 yards on 15-of-29 passes. McNeal caught five passes for 84
yards for the Ichabods (5-4, 3-4 MIAA).
Schuerman also broke the freshman passing record and now stands at
1,630 yards this season.
Washburn will now travel to Kirksville, Mo. to take on the Truman
State Bulldogs 1 p.m. next Saturday.
