Emporia, Kan. - For the 11th straight time, Washburn fell to Emporia State 38-19 dropping the Ichabods' record to 2-7 and 1-6 in the MIAA.

The Hornets used the big scoring play against the Ichabods scoring on rushing plays of 60 and two 70 yard plays adding to the 337 yards of rushing on the afternoon. Emporia State jumped out to a 24-0 lead on three touchdown runs and a school-tying record 48 yards. The Ichabods would light the scoring column on a 1-yard touchdown by Reggie Jones with 24 seconds left in the first half.

In the second half, the Ichabods would score on their first drive with a 36-yard field goal by Jason Bowers. The Hornets would score the next two touchdowns to go up 38-10. After the Ichabods recorded a safety, Chris Huelsman would score a touchdown reception from Dustin Hickel with three seconds left.

Hickel would lead the Ichabods with a career high 132 yards rushing on 34 carries. He also passed for 187 yards on 11 completions with one touchdown. Chris Whittle had three receptions for 81 yards. On defense, Joe Corcoran led the Ichabods with eight tackels.

The Ichabods will be at home next Saturday to face Missouri-Rolla with kickoff set for 1 p.m.
