ST. JOSEPH, MO. - The Washburn Ichabods fell to 2-6 and 1-5 in the MIAA with their 27-6 loss to Missouri Western Saturday.

The Ichabods trailed 13-6 after a pair of Jason Bowers' field goals of 30 and 40 yards. Those points would be the only put on the board for the Ichabods.

Eventhough the Ichabods racked up more first downs, rushing yards, passing yards and time of possession, the Griffons used a pair of touchdown drives of 36 and 95 yards to put the game out of reach.

The Ichabods racked up 400 total yards of offense compared to 292 of the Griffons, but the Ichabods could not get it in the endzone.

Dustin Hickel, starting in place of the injured Tyler Schuerman at quarterbcak was 21 of 36 for 197 yards. He also led the Ichabods on the gournd with 69 yards rushing.

Colon McNeal grabbed seven receptions for 53 yards and Chris Whittle had four receptions for 53 yards as well.

Up next for the Ichabods is arch-rival Emporia State in Emporia next Saturday. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. at Welch Stadium on the ESU campus.
