TOPEKA - In a game that was a roller coaster of emotions, the Truman Bulldogs' Austin Lepper hit a 46-yard field goal as time expired to damper homecoming for the Ichabods in a 27-26 win.

The Ichabods started the afternoon by spotting the Bulldogs 14 points as Truman scored on a pair of touchdown drives in the first and second quarter. The Ichabods would get back in it and take the lead into the break ridding the wave of three Washburn rushing touchdowns by Brandon Rainer. Rainer scored on rushes of 2-, 10- and 1-yard runs. He finished the day with 100 yards on 13 carries and became only the second Ichabod in school history to rush for more than 2,000 yards in a career. He now stands in third on the all-time charts with 2,009 yards. On the third touchdown by Rainer, the extra point was missed and the 'Bods led at the half 20-14.

Truman would cut the lead the three on a Leeper 36-yard field goal and then take the lead on a touchdown run 24-20.

The Ichabod defense would then make a stand and stop the Bulldogs at 50 and take over with 1:52 remaining. The Ichabods would take the lead with 40 seconds left on a Colon McNeal touchdown reception from Tyler Schuerman. McNeal finshed the day with nine receptions for 109 yards.

However the celebration would be short-lived as Truman took the ensuing kickoff for the winning field goal.

Joe Corcoran led the Ichabod defense with 18 tackles. He had three for loss, a forced fumble, a pass break up and a quartback sack in his first start.

The Ichabods have a short week as the Central Missouri State University Mules come to town on Thursday for a 7 pm kickoff. The game will be broadcast on KTWU by Metro Sports.
