WARRENSBURG, MO - The Washburn Ichabods fell to 1-6 and 1-4 in the
MIAA in a 55-21 loss to the No. 8 ranked Central Missouri State University
Mules. The Ichabods will now play host to Missouri Western on Oct.
26 for Homecoming with game time starting at 1 p.m. in Moore Bowl.
The Mules took full advantage of six Ichabod turnovers converting
them into 35 points opening up a 21-0 lead to start the game.
The Ichabods would get on the scoreboard with 13:12 left in the second
quarter on a 68-yard touchdown strike from Dustin Hickel to Mike Odupitan.
The Mules would then go on and score the next three touchdowns making
the score 42-7.
The Ichabods would take the ensuing kickoff and martch 80 yards in
seven plays on the first of two Cason Lehman to DaWight Benning touchdown
connections. The first one covered 27 yards and the second with 16
seconds left in the game was a 25-yard touchdown.
Chris Hulesman rushed for 43 yards to lead the Ichabods. Lehman was
9 for 19 for 164 yards and two touchdowns and Hickel was 7 for 14
for 100 yards and one touchdown. Hickel reinjured his ankle in the
second quarter. Benning had six receptions for 88 yards and the two
touchdowns. He also rushed three times for 15 yards. Brooks Myers
led the ichabod defense with eight tackles including one for loss.
The Ichabods will now host Missouri Western for Homecoming on Oct.
