St. Joseph, Mo. -- The Washburn Ichabod golf team moved within two points of the top of the MIAA golf standings with only the MIAA Championship Tournament remaining with a second place finish at the Missouri Western Invitational Tournament. The Ichabods topped all of the MIAA schools at the event, trailing only Indian Hills Community College, to collect all seven points in the conference race giving them 23 for the season. Missouri Western, who finished eight strokes behind the Ichabods, lead the conference with 25 points. The Ichabods are looking to win their fourth straight MIAA championship. Jeremiah Nelson finished in a tie for fourth to lead the Ichabods with a even-par 143. John Robbins finished in a tie for eighth. Robbins, who was originally scheduled to play as an individual, replaced Matt Ewald, who became ill during the practice round of Sunday and withdrew from the event. The MIAA Tournament is April 17-18 in Blue Springs, Mo.
