Ichabods win first MIAA event of the season by 20 strokes

Bolivar, Mo. - The Washburn Ichabods won the opening event of the
2006-07 golf MIAA golf season with a 20-stroke win over Drury University
and a 21-shot win over the closest MIAA opponent, Central Missouri. The
event was held at Silo Ridge Golf Club in Bolivar, Mo., hosted by
Southwest Baptist.
The ichabods were led by Matt Ewald, who won the event, with a 3-under
141. He shot a 68 in Tuesday's round. Ryan Deutsch finished second after
carding a 2-under 142.
Finishing in a tie for 10th was John Robbins (76-76=152) and Taylor
Dunhan (78-75=153) finished in a tie for 14th. Daniel Hersch (81-74=155)
finished in a tie for 24th.
Sam Wempe (74-80-154) finished in a tie for 18th as an indivdual.
The golfers will be in action Sept. 25-26 at the Northeastern State
Invitational in Tallequah, Okla.
