Ichabods in 14th at national tournament

DELAND, Fla- The Washburn golf team fired a 303 to move into 14th place at 932 (323-306-303) after three rounds at the NCAA Division II National Tournament Thursday at Victoria Hills Golf Club.

Sophomore Matt Warnock (Liberty, Mo.) leads Washburn with a 225 after shooting a 74 and is in a tie for 18th place individually, while Matt Johnston (Grantville, Kan.) fired a second straight 74 for a 228 total to move into a tie for 30th. Paul Resner (Emporia, Kan.) shot an 81 and has a 240 total, while Chris McGown (Mound City, Kan.) carded a 75 for a 241 total. Garrett Donovan (Rossville, Kan.) carded an 80 to finish with a 245 total after three rounds.

The Ichabods, who won the MIAA team title and the Central Regional title, are participating in the NCAA Division II national tournament for the second straight time. The Ichabods finished 16th in the national tournament at Sunriver, Ore. in 2003.
