Washburn takes lead at MIAA Golf Tournament

BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. - The Washburn golf team shot a 27-hole total of 436 (+4) to take a one shot lead in the MIAA Golf Championship at Blue Springs Country Club Monday afternoon.
Washburn edged Missouri Western's 437 and is five shots ahead of Central Missouri State (441). The Ichabods swept the four MIAA events and are looking for the MIAA's first sweep of all events since CMSU in 1999-2000.
Washburn can clinch at least a share of the MIAA title with a fourth place finish and win the title outright with a finish of third or better in the MIAA Championship. The Ichabods entered the tournament with a 28-22 lead over Central Missouri State and have won the last two MIAA Championships.
Washburn was led Monday by Taylor Dunham's 1-under 107 (73-34). Dunham was in third place, while Chris McGown (75-36) and Paul Resner (73-38) were tied for sixth at 111. Ryan Deutsch was tied for 11th with a 113, while Matt Warnock was tied for 13th at 114.
Jeremiah Nelson was tied for 15th at 115 and John Robbins was tied for 24th at 118 playing as individuals.
