Ichabods in 14th at national tournament

SUNRIVER, Ore. - The Washburn Ichabod golf team fired a 19-over 307 to finish in 14th place after the opening round of the NCAA Division II National Golf Championships at Crosswater Golf Club Tuesday afternoon.

Senior Derek Dultmeier (Topeka) carded a 2-over 74 to tie for 26th after the opening round. Freshman Matt Warnock (Liberty, Mo.) fired a 77, sophomore Paul Resner (Emporia) and Cam Hubbard (Topeka) each carded 78s and junior Garrett Donovan (Rossville) finished with an 80.

The Ichabods, who won the MIAA team title and the Central Regional title, are participating in the NCAA Division II national tournament for the first time in school history. The 72-hole tournament continues with the second round, which begins 8:30 a.m. (Pacific Time) Wednesday.
