Washburn 2006 hall of fame inductees announced
Quartet to be inducted before Oct. 28th Homecoming game versus Emporia State

The Washburn Athletic Department is proud to announce that four new members will join the current number of 108 inductees into the Athletics Hall of Fame of Homecoming weekend set for Oct. 28 with the induction ceremony taking place before the homecoming parade.
Michael Dritlein (football - 1992-95); Rhonda (Matzke) Flerlage (Basketball - 1992-94); Chris Torrez (Softball - 1993-96) and Greg "Buzz" Wilson (basketball - 1985-1989) will all be inducted at the breakfast ceremony.

Michael Dritlein
- Named Washburn's first football All-American as a member of the NCAA after receiving first team Football Gazette honors and second team CoSIDA honors in 1995 after he recorded 1,112 receiving yards as a senior … he was also a first team all-region pick in 1995 by the same organizations … equally impressive in the classroom, he also received second team academic All-American honors as a sophomore and as a senior … his senior season, he was a weekly recipient of the $25,000 Burger King Scholar Athlete of the Week Award, which endowed a scholarship in his name at Washburn … he stands as Washburn's career leader in receptions with 170 and leader in receiving yards with 3,103 … his receiving total was second on the MIAA's career chart when his playing days were completed … his 3,823 career all-purpose yards currently rank third on the all-time chart at Washburn and they were the second most in school history when his career ended … he ranks 15th in career scoring with 108 points and he recorded 14 100-yard receiving games in his career … he was also a three-time all-MIAA Academic pick and a three-time commissioner's academic honor roll member.

Rhonda Matzke - Scored 956 points in two seasons after transferring from Oklahoma … point total ranked No. 13 on the all-time scoring chart when career ended … as a junior, her first season at Washburn, she was named the MIAA's Newcomer of the Year and was a two-time first team all-MIAA selection … her 81 3-pointers was No. 2 on the career chart when she finished playing and that total is currently No. 8 on the all-time chart … her 41 3-pointers during her junior season were the second most in school single-season history at the time … her career .820 free throw percentage (201-245) is No. 2 on the all-time chart and it was the best in school history at the time … another outstanding performer in the classroom, Matzke was a second team academic all-American selection and a first team all-region selection as a senior … she was also selected as the Kansas Woman of the Year that same year … she was also a two-time all-MIAA Academic team member.

Chris Torrez - Received third team All-America honors as an outfielder as a senior in 1996 … she is the only Lady Blue to receive team MVP honors multiple times as she accomplished the feat three times following her sophomore through senior seasons … she is one of two Washburn softball players to receive first team all-MIAA honors three seasons (1994-96) after receiving second team all-MIAA honors as a freshman … also a two time first team all-region selection as a junior and senior … she finished her career as the school leader in career hits (245) and is still atop the career home runs (32), runs batted in (167) and batting average (.398) … Torrez also still holds the single season records for home runs (11), batting average (.458) and runs batted in (52).

Greg Wilson - Finished his career fourth on the all-time point chart with 1,321 and fourth on the rebounding list with 569 …those totals rank seventh on both charts today … played in 135 games at Washburn, which is the second most in school history while starting 66 games … tied school record for single-season starts with 39 during the Ichabods' national championship run during the 1986-87 season … currently ranks fifth in field goal attempts (1,106), tied for sixth in field goals made (514), seventh in free throws made (290) and eighth in free throws attempted (407) … his 103 steals ranks 11th in school history and his .713 free throw percentage is 22nd in school history … he was a first team all-CSIC selection in 1988.
