LAS VEGAS - Brady Sisk had a season-high 16 points as Washburn held on for a 79-73 win over Texas A&M-Commerce Saturday in the first day of the High Desert Classic. The Ichabods shot a season-high 57 percent from the field and out rebounded the Lions 36-26. Dylan Channel put in 13 points and J.B. Murray added 11. Washburn (6-3) will take on Central Arkansas Sunday at 8:45 p.m. CST.

Both teams shot well in the first half with the Ichabods making 64 percent of their baskets and the Lions connecting on 52 percent. The lead changed 11 times and the scored was tied at 35 after the first period. The Lions made their first basket in the second half but Sisk answered on the next possesion and the Ichabods never looked back.

Washburn grew the lead to nine with 12 minutes left and held off the Lion comeback late in the game. Jermart Miller, who had 20 points for TAMC, made two free throws with 2:21 left in the game to cut the lead to two. Sisk and Kris Milburn combined for five points in the final minute, though, to put the game away.

Sisk led the Ichabods with six rebounds and Andrew Meile pulled in five. Lamar Searight also had 20 points for the Lions (8-3).
