Ichabod rally falls short as Washburn topped by Gorillas

(Feb. 8) PITTSBURG - A late rally by the Washburn Ichabods fell short as they fell 67-60 to Pittsburg State in John Lance Arena. With the loss, the Ichabods' record dips to 10-12 overall and 4-8 in the MIAA. The Ichabods will be back in action on Saturday night in Bolivar, Mo. when they battle No. 11 ranked Southwest Baptist.
Washburn trailed by 16 at 62-46 with 8:30 remaining in the second half, but the Ichabods rallied to cut the lead to five at 65-60 at the 1:54 mark with Brady Sisk capping a 14-3 run over the next 5:26. But the Ichabods would go 0-4 from the field the rest of the way and the Gorillas would score on a dunk to push the final margin to seven.
The Ichabods led 31-29 at the half after trailing by as many as eight points, but a tip in by Moriba DeCoteau at the buzzer gave Washburn a two-point lead. Washburn shot 40 percent in the first half hitting 10 of 25, but cooled in the second half to 32 percent connecting on 10 of 31 attempts while going 0-6 from 3-point land and 1 of 13 for the game from behind the arc.
Washburn was led by Sisk who scored 25 points hitting 7 of 19 shots from the field and 11 of 14 from the free throw line. He was the only Ichabod to score in double figures.
The Gorillas were led by Eddie Jackson who scored 26, hitting 7 of 16 3-point attempts.
The Gorillas were 18 of 38 from the free throw line while the Ichabods were 19 of 24.
