BOLIVAR, Mo. - The Washburn Ichabods trailed by one at the half, but could not hang on as they fell to the No. 11 ranked Southwest Baptist Bearcats 76-63. The Ichabods fall to 4-9 in the MIAA, tied with Missouri Southern for the eighth place in the conference race. The Ichabods will play host to arch rival Emporia State Wedesday night in Topeka at 7:30 p.m. It will be senior night as Kris Milburn will be honored in pregame ceremonies.

Washburn was behind 34-33 at the break as the Ichabods but SBU opened the second half on a 11-1 run to take a 45-34 lead and would not look back as Washburn struggled from the field in the second stanza. The Ichabods came out cold from the locker rooms going the first 6:49 without a field missing their first eight attempts scoring only one point on a Milburn free throw.

In the first half, Washburn shot 42 percent from the field hitting 14 of 33 attempts while SBU was 12 of 27 for 44 percent.

Andrew Meile led the Ichabods with a career-high tying 15 points on 6 of 12 from the field and Paul Byers recorded a new career high with 14 points. Milburn was scored 10 points.

Washburn shot 38 percent for the game and was outrebounded by SBU 49 to 28. The Bearcats also made more trips to the line than the Ichabods as Southwest Baptist attemped 41 free throws compared to 14 for Washburn.
