Signing day nets two transfers for Chipman and Ichabods

Head coach Bob Chipman announced Wednesday that Topeka native and NCAA Division I transfer James Williams will join Brown Mackie junior college transfer Darnell Kimble on the Ichabods basketball team in 2007-08. Williams comes from St. Bonaventure where he played in six games last year, his junior year, before an injury kept him out the rest of the season.

He scored 19 points in his six games last year after transferring from Cloud County Community College. He averaged 11 points a game as a sophomore and nine as a freshman at CCCC. He is a 2004 graduate of Highland Park High School in Topeka where he helped his team to a state title his senior year. Kimble scored 15.0 points a game with eight rebounds at Brown Mackie. He reached double figures in scoring in 22 of 25 games.

As a Sophomore in 2006-07 at Brown Mackie CC
Played in 25 games as a forward…averaged 15.0 points per game and 8.0 rebounds…had six double-doubles and scored in double figures 22 times…scored 20 or more six times…shot 58 percent from the field…helped his team to a 23-8 record his final year.

As a Freshman in 2005-06 at Brown Mackie CC
Played in 30 games as a forward…averaged 18.7 points per game and 7.1 rebounds…shot 58 percent from the field.

Bennett High School
Played basketball at Bennett High School in Buffalo, New York…named to the New York all-state Class AA sixth team.

As a Junior in 2006-07 at St. Bonaventure
Played in six games as a junior guard…scored 19 points to average 3.2 per game and shot .333 from the field…averaged 1.7 rebounds a game…scored a season-high 12 points against Albany on 12/16/06 with 4-of-10 shooting, a pair of three-pointers and a pair of free throws.

As a Sophomore in 2005-06 at Cloud County CC
Played in 31 games as a guard… helped his team to a 24-9 record…averaged 11.0 points per game off 39 percent shooting from the field and 31 percent shooting from 3-point range…averaged 4.6 rebounds per game and 2.8 assists per game.

As a Freshman in 2004-05 at Cloud County CC
Played in 31 games as a guard as the team went 15-16…averaged 9.0 points and 3.8 rebounds per game…averaged 2.1 assists and 1.2 steals per game.

Highland Park High School
Lettered for three years at Highland Park High School and helped his team to a state championship his senior year…named to the all class all-state second team and to the Class 5A all-state first team as a senior while averaging 16 points and 8 rebounds per game…earned second team all-state as a junior while scoring 11 points a game with 6 rebounds.
