Chipman ads Michigan junior college transfer Covier Carter

Head coach Bob Chipman added another signing for the 2007-08 season on Tuesday when Covier Carter signed a letter of intent to attend Washburn this fall and play basketball. Carter comes to WU after playing two years at Grand Rapids Community College.

Carter put in 18.9 points a game while grabbing 4.2 rebounds to earn a spot on the all-Region XII team last year. He was a 46 percent shooter with a 79 percent effort from the free throw line. He also was named all-region his freshman year with 12 points a game. He went to GRCC after graduating from East Kentwood High School in Kentwood, Michigan.

Carter joins Darnell Kimble and James Williams, who signed last week.

As a Sophomore in 2006-07 at Grand Rapids CC
Played in 24 games and averaged 18.0 points per game and 4.2 rebounds per game…named to the Michigan Community College Athletic Association all-conference and all-Western Conference first team…named to the all-Region XII team…helped his team to a 22-6 record…shot 79 percent from the free throw line and 46 percent from the field…had 2.5 steals per game.

As a Freshman in 2005-06 at Grand Rapids CC
Played guard for GRCC…averaged 12 points a game…earned all-MCCAA first team honors and all-Region XII first team honors.

Played basketball at East Kentwood High School in Kentwood, Michigan.
