The No. 21 Washburn Ichabods improved to 10-2 (3-1 MIAA)
with a 77-55 victory over rival Emporia State in Lee Arena Wednesday
night.
Washburn jumped out to a 28-11 lead in the first half
and never looked back. Washburn forced early turnovers and connected
on 15 of 29 shots from the field to build a 46-28 lead at the half.
The Ichabods kept up the intensity in the second half
and built their biggest lead a 74-47 with 4:46 to go on a lob pass layin
by Troy Douglas.
Randolph Williams stepped up and hit 8 of 10 from the
field and finished with 21 points.
Ewan Auguste finished with 10 points and 10 rebounds,
while Eric Carter added 16 points for the Ichabods.
Washburn is back in action 7:30 Saturday night at Pittsburg
State.
