Ichabod tennis team rally falls short against Lopers
(March 29) The Ichabods fell 5-4 to the Lopers in a battle of the top two teams in the region. The Ichabods fell in two of the three doubles matches and lost three of the singles matches splitting sets. The Ichabods' record fell to 4-5 on the season. They will face Emporia State on Thursday at either the Washburn Tennis Complex starting at 11 a.m. or at the Topeka Country Club depending on the weather. Box Score | Season Stats

Ichabod netters improve to 8-2 with perfect spring break trip
(March 26) Hilton Head, S.C. - The Ichabod tennis team improved to 8-2 this season with a perfect week in Hilton Head, S.C. The Ichabods rolled through the University of Chicago 9-0, William Jewell 9-0 and St. Thomas 9-0. UC was ranked No. 25 in the latest D3 Tennis National Rankings. Against William Jewell, the Ichabods dropped only seven games. The Ichabods are ranked No. 2 in the latest North Central Regional Rankings and they will take on Nebraska-Kearney on Wednesday at 3 p.m. at the Washburn tennis complex. Ichabod netters go 3-0 over the weekend
(March 5) TOPEKA - The Washburn Ichabod tennis team lifted their record to 3-1 this season after picking up three wins over the weekend. They topped Metro State 6-3, Winona State 7-2 and swept Colorado State-Pueblo 9-0. The Ichabods will be in action this weekend on Saturday against defending MIAA Champion Southwest Baptist. Wilson/ITA Men's North Central Regional complete
(Oct. 2) TOPEKA - The Washburn Ichabod doubles team of Rutger Vliegenburg and Andrew Plum and singles player Peter Grimsey of Rockhurst have won the Wilson/ITA North Central Regional held in Topeka. The winners advance to the National Small College Championships Oct. 12-16 in Fort Myers, Fla. at Florida Gulf Coast University. In the all-Washburn doubles final, Vliegenburg and Plum, the No. 6 seeds, topped fellow Ichabods Nathan Martin and Brad Johnston 8-0 to advance to the national tournament. In singles play, Grimsey, the No. 1 seed topped No. 4 seeded Tony Larson of St. Cloud State 2-6, 7-6, 10-7 to advance to the finals. In the other half of the bracket, No. 3 seeded William Jacome of Nebraska-Kearney knocked off No. 2 seeded Gareth Dowdell of Rockhurst to advance to the finals. Washburn tennis team open 2005-06 season
(Sept. 12) TOPEKA - The Washburn Ichabods opened the 2005-06 season at the Wichita State Invitiational over the weekend. The Ichabods' Tyler Kinder won his No. 5 singles flight as did Blake Edwards at No. 6 singles. John Weygint won the No. 9 singles flight as well. MIAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll for tennis announced
(May 10) OVERLAND PARK, Kan. -- The Washburn Lady Blues and Ichabod tennis teams had three placed on the Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll that was announced today. Lady Blues senior Caitlin Day (history), Julie Huyberechts (art) and Ichabod junior Tyler Kinder (mathematics). Student-athletes are named to the list under the following criteria: 1.) The student-athlete must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.00 or better at the qualifying institution; 2.) The student-athlete must have at least two terms of attendance at the member school, excluding summer sessions; 3.) The student-athlete must be a sophomore, junior or senior in athletic eligibility; 4.) Student-athletes inactive due to redshirt or hardship qualification are not eligible.
