Ichabods reach MIAA Tournament finals with win over SBU

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – The No. 22 Washburn Ichabod tennis team moved a step
closer to defending their first MIAA Championship from a year ago with
a semifinal at the MIAA Tennis Tournament.
In their only match of the day, the Ichabods gained some revenge on
Southwest Baptist after the Bearcats handed Washburn their first loss
of the season on April 13. The Ichabods swept the doubles matches
taking the early 3-0 lead. In singles play, the Ichabods dropped the
Nos. 1, 2 and 3 singles spots, but wrapped up the match with Brad
Johnston and Andrew Plum winning their Nos. 5 and No. 6 matches.
The Ichabods will face Northwest Missouri tomorrow. The Bearcats
topped the Ichabods 5-4 on Thursday in Maryville.
