“I have had the ultimate privilege for the past 33 years of doing exactly what I wanted to do in the best possible environment at Washburn University,” Marmet said. “My experience of teaching and coaching the most talented student-athletes have far exceeded my wildest expectations and provided me with a lifetime of friendships and wonderful memories.

“I shall thoroughly miss my fellow coaches and the athletic staff who have given me unconditional support and friendship through all the years.

“Most of all, I shall miss the unique, irreplaceable coach/athlete relationships that make coaching one of the most rewarding and exciting jobs one could ever have.”
Washburn Athletic Director Loren Ferre’ said the Athletic Department wishes her the best.

“Peg has done a great job in building the program to be able to compete on a national level,” Ferre’ said. “We wish her nothing but the best in the future.”

Ferre’ said the search for a new coach will begin immediately and he hopes to have a new coach in place by the first of the year.
