Lady Blues set for "Set the Record" Night

Sept. 2, 2004

The Washburn women's soccer program will attempt to break the NCAA Division II regular season attendance record 5 p.m. Sept. 10 against Missouri Southern. The Lady Blues plan to host over 2,000 fans in the conference opening match at the Washburn Soccer Complex.

The current record, held by MIAA rival Emporia State, is 1,820 fans against Northern Colorado on Sept. 22, 2002 at the TRYSA Complex in Emporia.

Players from each of the leagues of the Sunflower Soccer Association will be in attendance and some members will participate in short-sided games at halftime. Prizes will be provided to fans from Sonic Drive In of Topeka.

The Lady Blues are in their second season of intercollegiate action under head coach Tim Collins after finishing 4-13-1 in 2003. Washburn finished 11th in the NCAA Division II attendance rankings last season with 2,425 fans.
