Lady Blues tie Miners in double overtime

ROLLA, Mo. - The Washburn Lady Blues tied the Missouri-Rolla Lady Miners in double overtime by a score of 2-2 in the first game of their six-game roadtrip. Both of the Lady Blues goals were scored by Jenna Lawless who has scored four goals in the last two games.

The Lady Blues jumped on the board first as Lawless scored from a Lauren Schwindt pass from 12 yards out in the 34th minute. That was the only goal of the first half.

In the second half, the teams scored three goals in the next five-plus minutes. The first of which were scored by UMR's Sarah Newman. The Lady Miners scored another goal 4:15 following their first goal, but the Lady Blues came right back as Lawless scored 1:07 later off another Schwindt pass to tie the match at two.

Neither team could score in the first or second overtime leading to the tie after 110 minutes of play.

Lady Blues' goalkeeper Jenna Hatlestad recorded eight saves while allowing the two goals.

The Lady Blues continue the roadtrip Saturday afternoon in Joplin, Mo. at 3 p.m.
