Lady Blues announce 2005 signing class

Washburn head soccer coach has announced four new Lady Blue additions who signed National Letter of Intents to play for Lady Blues next fall.
"We specifically targeted these players and we landed all of our targets in the recruiting season," Collins said. "These four will have an immediate impact on our team next season and they will be leaders for our for the next four years."
The Lady Blues will open the 2005 season on Sat., Aug. 28 in Crookston, Minn as they take on Minnesota-Moorehead.
The signing class includes Lisa Fahey, Kaydi Hooker, Jessica Mainz and Ryann Werner.

Lisa Fahey • 5-7 • Midfielder • Parkville, Mo./Park Hill High School
Lisa has been a four-year starter on Park Hill's soccer team as she was named best new player as a freshman … named first team all-league and second team all-district as a freshman …first team all-league and first team all-district as a sophomore and junior … named to Kansas City Sun-News All-Northland team as a junior … team MVP and captain as a junior and senior … also named first team all-league and first team all-district as a junior and senior on the volleyball court … named second team all-region in 2003 and first team all-region in 2004 …All-Metro in 2003 and named to Missouri All-Star team as a senior … will finish prep career with 12 varsity letters … a member of the National Honor Society and four-time academic letterwinner … younger sister of Lady Blues midfielder Anna Fahey … anticipated major is business.

Kaydi Hooker • 5-6 • Midfielder • Casper, Wyoming/Kelly Walsh High School
Kaydi was named soccer teams player of the year and a member of the National Honor Society … was an all-conference, all-region and all-state player in basketball … runner-up for Wyoming's Gatorade Player of the Year … will graduate with 10 varsity letters … an all-state tennis player as well …anticipated major is elementary education.

Jessica Mainz • 5-9 • Forward • Topeka, Kan./Shawnee Heights High School
Jessica was all-city, all-league all-region and all-state selection in soccer … finished her prep career with 73 goals and 30 assists … an all-city and all-state 5A pick in basketball as a junior …a four-year member of the honor roll and three-year member of the National Honor Society … anticipated major is elementary education.

Ryann Werner • 5-9 • Goalkeeper • Wichita, Kan./University of Wisconsin-Green Bay/Wichita South High School
Ryann is transferring from Division I Wisconsin-Green Bay where she played one season and in eight matches allowing an average of 1.91 goals per game with 21 saves … at Wichita South she was a second team all-state pick as a junior …missed most of senior season with mono …a first team all-city and all-region pick as a junior … a five-year member of the Kansas Olympic Development program … anticipated major is physical education.
