ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – The Lady Blues scored less then five minutes into the match to lead to a 4-0 win at Missouri Western Sunday. No. 18 Washburn (13-1-2) built up its MIAA leading point total to 25 points with an 8-1-1 conference record. The Lady Blues will play at Central Missouri Wednesday at 7 p.m. looking for a season-sweep over the Jennies.

One day after setting a school record with their 12 win, the Lady Blues set the record Sunday with their eighth MIAA win.

The Lady Blues first goal came from some help from the Griffons as they scored on an own goal in the fifth minute. Six minutes later Silovsky found the back of the net when she fired in a rebound, ending a four-match drought without a point.

The Lady Blues offense took 12 shots in the first half and put seven of then on goal while the defense kept MWSU to one shot.

In the second period Jenna Lawless scored her first goal of the season as she converted a penalty kick at 57:00. In the closing minutes of the game Ashley Taylor got her fifth goal of the year to give the Lady Blues the 4-0 win.

Overall, Washburn held a dominating 18-3 advantage on shots and 10-1 lead on shots on goal. Goalkeeper Jenna Hatlestad made the lone necessary save and recorded her seventh shutout of the year. The Lady Blues have swept their last three opponents and Hatlestad has not allowed a goal in 270:00 minutes.

Ten different Lady Blues took shots in the game with Silovsky and Lawless leading with three each.
