Lady Blues play to 1-1 draw with Rockhurst, increase unbeaten streak to 8 matches

KANSAS CITY, MO. - The Washburn Lady Blues went the distance with Rockhurst playing all 110 minutes with neither team coming out on top in a 1-1 double overtime draw. With the tie, the Washburn record goes to 4-0-1 extending its unbeaten streak to eight matches dating back to the 2005 season.
The lone goal was scored by Meagan Horvath on a free kick from 25-yards out that went past Rockhurst goalkeeper Alyssa Miller in the 37th minute of action. It was Horvath's first goal of the season.
The Hawks tied it in the 53rd minute as Rockhurst's Sarah Anderson hit Lisa Schwarz on a give and go from 5-yards out for the equalizer rounding out the scoring for both teams in the match.
In the overtime period, each team manufactured one shot and Rockhurst out shot the Lady Blues 2-1 in the second overtime. Washburn out shot the Hawks 15 to 10 in the match.
Washburn goalie Jenna Hatledstad allowed the one goal while picking up three saves.
Washburn will be in action on Saturday in their home opener against Southwestern Oklahoma at 12 p.m. inside Yager Stadium in a schedule change from posted schedules.
