TOPEKA - The Washburn Lady Blues soccer team ran their unbeaten streak to nine matches with a 4-1 win over Southwestern Oklahoma State University. With the win, Washburn improves to 5-0-1 on the season and will take on arch-rival Emporia State at 1 p.m. tomorrow (Sunday) in Yager Stadium.
Washburn's Jolene Silovsky scored her fifth goal of the season after taking a pass down the middle of the field and launching a shot from 30-yards out past the Bulldog goalkeeper to put the Lady Blues up 1-0.
The Bulldogs' Stephanie Kneedler tied the score on an assist from Jamie Hilterbran in the 31st minute of action.
Amanda Geist scored her first goal of the season on an Ashley Taylor assist for the game-winner.
Washburn's Traci Nigg and Courtney Russell each added their first goals of the season pushing the final margin to 4-1.
Jenna Hatlestad recorded the win in goal for the Lady Blues stopping two Bulldog shots.
Washburn out shot Southwestern Oklahoma 21 to 7 in the win.
