Head Coach Tim Collins

On Dec. 23, 2002, Tim Collins was named the first head coach in Lady Blues soccer history and he brings the experience and winning traditions from the high school ranks to the Washburn campus.
Entering the fourth year of the program, the fruits of Collins’ labor turned the Lady Blues into a second place conference team in year No. 3. The 2005 Lady Blues recorded the first winning season in Washburn’s history and Collins picked up MIAA Coach of the Year honors.
Collins has compiled a 20-29-8 record in his two seasons as the Lady Blues coach. In their second season of existence, Collins coached the Lady Blues from an eighth place finish from the first season to a fifth place finish in the MIAA standings.
In his two seasons at the helm of the Lady Blues program, he has coaches six Washburn soccer players who have earned all-MIAA honors. Collins’ enthusiasm has led to increased attendance at Lady Blues matches as Washburn led the NCAA Division II ranks in attendance last season, including setting a new Division II single-match attendance record of 1,848 against Missouri Southern.
Collins previously coached the Seaman boys team to a fourth-place 5A state finish and a Regional Championship after finishing second in the Centennial League race. Before coaching at Seaman, Collins headed the boys and girls programs at Topeka West High School for 10 years. In 2001, he coached the girls’ program to the Class 5A State Championship. He also coached Charger teams to seven regional championships, two tournament championships and two state finalists. He was named the Topeka City Coach of the Year four times and the Kansas Coach of the Year once.
Since 1995 Collins has been the girls director of coaching for the Kansas State Olympic Development Program organizing tryouts and managing camps. Collins also has his National Class “A” Coaching License.
Collins is a 1991 graduate Ottawa University where he was a four-year letterwinner for the Braves’ soccer team. He was the team’s MVP and captain his junior and senior seasons while garnering first team all-conference and all-district accolades.
Collins and his wife, Tina, have two boys Nico and CJ.

Assistant Coach Lora Westling

Jessica WilhelmLora Westling is in her first season as an assistant coach after a stellar four-year career for the Lady Blues basketball team and one season as a member of the Lady Blues soccer team.
Westling spent the 2005 season with the Lady Blues soccer team as a defender recording an assist and earned first team all-MIAA honors and second team NSCAA all-region honors. She was also named the 2006 Lady Blues soccer team most valuable player.
On the basketball court, Westling scored 965 points in her career to place her 20th in Washburn history and broke school records for games played in her career (132) and 3-point field goals made (144). Her record for career games is also an MIAA record. She is also 16th on the Washburn charts in career rebounding with 490 and made 85 career starts for the Lady Blues. She earned all-MIAA honors the past two seasons and was named to the all-tournament team at the Elite Eight by averaging 14.3 points a game.
Westling is a native of Casper, Wyo., and graduated in May 2005 with a degree in marketing and is pursuing her master’s in business administration.
At the 2006 senior banquet, Westling was named the female senior student-athlete of the year.

Assistant Coach Grady Woodruff

Jessica WilhelmGrady Woodruff begins his first season as an assistant coach at Washburn after receiving his Associates of Science from Barton County Community College. A native Topekan, Grady enters with two years playing experience Barton County. While at Barton, he helped the Cougars win two Jayhawk conference championships.
Woodruff graduated from Topeka West High School where he led the Chargers to back-to-back final four appearances. He was an all-City and an all-State selection both his junior and senior seasons.
His coaching history includes working summer camps for the Sunflower Soccer Association, the Great Bend Recreation Commission and he serves as an assistant coach for the 88’ Olympic Development Boys state team. Grady currently holds his USSF national “D” coaching license.
