TOPEKA -- Washburn Lady Blues head softball coach Lisa Carey has announced the signing of two prep stars to National Letter of Intents in the early signing period. Tish Williams, from Edmond, Okla., and Autumn Hauck, from Dallas Texas, will both join the Lady Blues squad for the 2005-06 season.
"We're excited about these two joining our program," Carey said. "These are very talented players who will have an immediate impact on out team."
Autumn Hauck - 5-2, CF, Dallas, Texas/Bryan Adams High School
As a junior, Autumn was named the 2004 All-District Defensive Player of the Year after finishing 11th in batting in the state of Texas (Class 5A) with a .509 batting average while scoring 30 runs with 29 hits, four doubles, four triples and five home runs with 27 RBI. Her 27 RBI ranked sixth in 5A and her 36 stolen bases were tied for second in 5A. As a sophomore, she was named all-district outfielder of the Year and Sophomore of the Year as well as all-city academic. She was fourth in class 5A with a .643 batting average after collecting 27 hits in 42 at bats and scoring 30 runs with 32 stolen bases and five home runs. Anticipated major - Sports Management
Tish Williams - 5-6, 3B, Edmond, Okla./Edmond Memorial High School
In 2002, as a sophomore she was named Edmond's Player of the Year and in 2004 she was named Co-Player of the Year after batting .500 with 13 home runs, 44 runs scored, 18 doubles and 40 RBI as a senior. For her prep career, she batting .429 with 144 runs scored, 131 RBI and 234 hits. She was recently named first team all-state class 6A. She chose Washburn over Division I power Oklahoma. Anticipated major - Nursing.
