Lady Blues go 1-3 at St. Edward's Tournament in Texas

AUSTIN, TEXAS -- The Washburn Lady Blues went 1-3 at the St. Edward's Classic in Austin, Texas over the weekend.
The Lady Blues opened the tournament with a 13-3 win over New Mexico Highlands. Washburn pounded out 11 hits against NMHU. Whitney Tapp, Brooke DeVader, Malarie Fellers and Mandi Daigh each had two hits and Daigh drove in three runs.
Against Incarnate Word, the Lady Blues fell 4-3 after giving up two runs in the bootom of the eighth inning. Tish Williams had three hits while driving in two including a home run.
On Sunday against St. Mary's, the Lady Blues were shutout collecting five hits.
In their final game against host St. Edward's, Washburn fell 14-10. Washburn's four pitchers allowed 19 hits and gave up seven runs in the top of the eighth inning after allowing four runs in the top of the seventh to tie the score a eight. Washburn scored three in the bottom of the eighth but it wasn't enough. Daigh and Williams each drove in three runs fro Washburn and each hit a home run in the game.
