Lady Blues split their first two games at the ESU Tournament

EMPORIA, Kan. -- The Washburn Lady Blues split two games in their first day of action at the Emporia State University Tournament. The Lady Blues fell to Central Oklahoma 1-0 while topping Minnesota-Crookston 14-0. Washburn will play three games on Sunday battling Bemijdi State, Fort Hays State in a non-MIAA game and Cameron.
Against the Bronchos, Washburn managed only two hits on Hillary Brandt, who hurled a two-hiter and Meagan Campbell delivered the game-winning hit as Central Oklahoma edged Washburn 1-0. Kelly Swygert picked up the loss scattering three Broncho hits. Whitney Tapp and Jessie Batres had the two hits for the Lady Blues.
Against Minnesota-Crookston, Washburn scored nine runs in the second inning as Brooke DeVader drove in four runs going 3-for-4 and Tish Williams was two for 3 with 2 RBI and 2 runs scored. DeVader and Tapp each homered for the Lady Blues. Nicole Perkuhn picked up the win allowing hit in 3 innings pitched.
