Lady Blues blanked twice in final two games at ESU Tournament

EMPORIA, Kan. -- After recording 11 hits and seven runs in their first game of the second day at the ESU Tournament, the Lady Blues could only tally12 hits in two more games as Washburn (15-12) went 1-2 in day two of action. Washburn topped Bemidji State 7-3, while wrapping up the event with two shutouts falling 10-0 to Cameron and 6-0 to Fort Hays State. Washburn will be in action next March 23 in the Missouri Western State tournament.
In the opener against Bemidji State, Kayla Long picked up the win striking out five improving to 3-2 on the season. She helped her own cause out at the plate with a home run as well. Washburn scored four in the fifth inning to rally from a 2-1 deficit as Brooke DeVader and Dani White hit back-to-back home runs.
Against Cameron (11-16), Washburn gave up four runs in each the second and third innings and never recovered as Tish Williams had two of the five Washburn hits.
In their final game, a non-MIAA game against Fort Hays State, The Lady Blues stranded seven base runners as the Lady Blues gave up three in the third inning. White and Mandi Daigh had doubles as Daigh had two base hits.
