Game 1 | Game 2 | Season Stats

The Lady Blues christened their new softball complex press box in style Tuesday afternoon.

In the first game of a doubleheader, the Lady Blues pounded out 12 hits and scored 13 runs in four innings against Bethany starter Tanna Richter.

After a scoreless first inning, the Lady Blues batted around on Richter and scored five runs in the second including Katie Schmidt's second homerun of the season.

Stacy Carpenter broke the game open in the fourth inning with a three-run shot to center off of Richter. The homer started a seven-run inning which put the game out of reach.

Sandy Erickson was strong in her first game back in two years. Erickson, fully recovered from elbow surgery, only allowed two hits in four shutout innings while striking out four.

Bethany did not help their own cause much. The Lady Swedes committed six errors - three in each the second and fourth innings.

In the second game, it was simply too much Holly Reichel

Reichel moved her record to 2-0 by striking out four and no-hitting Bethany through four innings.

Offensively, Reichel helped her own cause by homering to deep centerfield.

The two-run bomb capped off a four-run first inning and the Lady Blues never looked back en route to completing the sweep, 8-0.

The Lady Blues will be at the Missouri Southern State College Invitational this weekend.
