Lady Blues' errors prove costly in 9-2 loss

LAWRENCE - Two errors at the wrong time proved costly for the Lady Blues in 9-2 loss to the Kansas Jayhawks. The two errors led to six unearned runs for the Jayhawks, all of which were scored in the last three innings.

The Lady Blues jumped out to a 2-0 lead after Crystal Wittlinger doubled to left field. She later scored on Kristen Cheney's single to left and Cheney was driven in by Brooke Lyons with the first of her two doubles. It was the brithday girl's fourth and fifth doubles on the season.

Katie Gregg picked up her second loss of the season to go with nine wins allowing four runs, three of which were earned with four strikeouts. Holly Reichel relieved her and allowed five runs, all of those were unearned.

Lady Blues will be on the road as they go on a swing through Missouri as they will play six games in three straight days in doubleheaders with Southwest Baptist on Friday, Missouri-Rolla on Saturday and Lincoln on Sunday. The Lady Blues then will play Missouri Southern on Tuesday in Joplin. Washburn will then play host to Lincoln on the 12 at the Washburn softball complex
