Lady Blues fall in shortened Missouri Southern Invite

JOPLIN, MO - The Washburn Lady Blues fell in a rain-shortened Missouri Southern Inviational Tournament over the weekend falling to Augustana 6-0 and Oklahoma City 2-1. The Lady Blues will now play host to the Big Blue Classic this Friday and Saturday at the Washburn Softball Complex.

Against Augustana, the Lady Blues recorded four errors in the second inning that led to six unearned runs by the Vikings. Sophomore first baseman Dara Cloue was 2 for 3 in the game.

Against Oklahoma City, the Lady Blues were struck out 11 times by Stars pitching. After the Stars recorded single runs in the first and second, the Lady Blues kept Oklahoma City at bay as sophomore pitcher Holly Reichel sat down 16 of the final 17 batters she faced. However, the Lady Blues couldn't take advantage as they scored only one run in the bottom of the seventh.
