Lady Blues sweep Southwest Baptist with 2 shutouts

BOLIVAR, MO - The Washburn Lady Blues picked up its fourth straight MIAA shutout in a doubleheader sweep over Southwest Baptist winning the first game 2-0 and taking the second game 7-0. The win improved the Lady Blues to 30-7 and 6-0 in the MIAA.

In the first game, the Lady Blues' Ashley Perkins went the distance picking up her 11th win of the season striking out five Bearcats. The Lady Blues scored solo runs in the fourth and the fifth for the win.

In the second game, the Lady Blues' Julie Blaufuss tied a school record with three doubles in one game going a perfect 4 of 4 from the plate scoring two runs and driving in one. In all, the Lady Blues hit five doubles in the game. Katie Gregg notched her 10th win of the season striking out six Bearcats and walking one.

The Lady Blues will take on Missouri-Rolla on Saturday and then play Lincoln University on Sunday in a non-conference game before taking on Missouri Southern in Joplin on Tuesday.
