Blues sign fourth recruit

Lady Blues softball head coach Kim Newbern has announced that Ashley
Stewart has signed a National Letter of Intent to play of the Lady Blues
next season. She is the fourth signing for the Lady Blues as Newbern
inked three in the early signing period.
Ashley Stewart (SS, 3B) - Stewart a 5-7 short stop/third
baseman from Anaheim, Calif. and Canyon High School, joins the Lady
Blues after after gaining second team all-conference honors after batting
.400. She is a four-year member of the Varsity and a second team choice
after her first three seasons at Canyon High.
Her high school team was ranked as high as 14th in the
National Fast Pitch Coaches Association Poll.
Stewart joins Katie Billington (OF/3B, Maryland Heights,
Mo./Pattonville High School), Tiffany Whitt (OF, Overland Park, Kan./Blue
Valley Northwest High School) and Kala Huske (C, 1B, Overland Park,
Kan./Shawnee Mission Northwest High School) who signed in the early
period.
The Washburn Lady Blues are home for a big four-game swing
as they take on Truman on Friday at 2 p.m. and Central Missouri on Saturday
at noon. The Lady Blues are 41-8 and 11-1 in the MIAA. Truman is 22-9
and 8-2 in the MIAA and the Jennies are 21-14 and 8-3 in the MIAA. The
Lady Blues have a one-game lead over the Bulldogs and a two-game lead
over the Jennies.
