Lady Blues fall for first time in MIAA play

ROLLA, MO - The Washburn Lady Blues fell for the first time this season in MIAA play on the road against the Missouri-Rolla Lady Miners. The Lady Blues won the first game 4-0, but fell in the nightcap 3-2. The Lady Blues' record now stands at 31-8 and 7-1 in the MIAA.

In the first game, Washburn's Katie Gregg picked up her 11th win of the season tossing a complete-game shutout, her sixth of the season and the Lady Blues' 15th of the season. She struck out two Lady Miners scattering three hits. Dawn Nachbar was 2-3 in the game and drove in two runs and Keri Tanner scored twice and drove in a solo run.

In the second game, the Lady Blues jumped out to a 1-0 lead only to see UMR tie the score in the bottom of the frame. The Lady Miners would score again in the fourth inning, but the Lady Blues would tie it up on back-to-back doubles by Kristen Cheney and Brooke Lyons. But in the bottom of the sixth, the Lady Miners would score the go-ahead unearned run to take the 3-2 win.

The Lady Blues are back in action again Sunday as they take on Lincoln University in a non-conference game in Jefferson City.
