OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — Four members of the Washburn Lady Blues volleyball squad earned all-conference honors, which were announced Wednesday morning by the MIAA.
Dani McHenry, a 6-0 junior outside hitter from Topeka, Kan., was the only Washburn player to earn first team honors. McHenry led the team and with 588 kills (4.26 kills/game), which was the second most in Washburn’s single season history. She also had 435 digs (3.32 digs/game) and 28 service aces, while totalling 87 blocks. She also led the team with 1230 attack attempts and hit a league-best .340.
Seniors Alecia Barron, Susan Crooks and Anna Neufeld earned honorable mention All-MIAA honors.
Barron, a 5-4 senior from Topeka, lead the team in total digs with 485 (3.81 digs/game), which was 10th in the MIAA She earned second team All-MIAA honors in 2002.
Neufeld, a 6-0 senior from Silver Lake, had 341 kills (2.62 kills/game) and had a .257 hitting percentage and 150 blocks (1.15). She was fourth in the MIAA in blocks and was a second team all-conference selection last season.
Crooks, a 6-0 senior from Silver Lake, hit .244 with 358 kills (2.75 kills/game) and 200 digs (1.54). She was also an honorable mention selection in 2002.
Washburn is finished the season with a 26-10 record and a fifth place finish in the MIAA.
