TOPEKA - The No. 15 Washburn Lady Blues topped Emporia State 30-24, 30-26, 30-21 in Lee Arena Saturday night. The Lady Blues improved to 18-2 and 6-2 in the MIAA.

Emporia State took a 15-11 lead in the opening game, before Washburn scored eight of the next nine points to take a 19-16 lead. Emily Foster's kill sealed the victory and helped the Lady Blues hit .359.

Washburn nearly all of the way in game two and sealed the win with dominating performance in game three. The Lady Blues opened the game with an 18-7 lead after a pair of kills by Anna Byers and Monica Miesner. Katie Brandt's kill gave the Lady Blues the victory.

Dani McHenry led Washburn with 19 kills, while Foster added 14 kills. Wendy Kobbeman had a team-high 19 digs, while Ashley Smith added 43 assists. Libby Wand had a team-high 16 kills for the Hornets.

Washburn travels to No. 13 Fort Hays State 7 p.m. Tuesday night.
