EMPORIA, Kan. - The No. 17 Washburn volleyball team topped Emporia State 30-20, 30-22, 30-26 in White Auditorium Saturday night.

Washburn cruised to the win in game one by hitting .256, compared to ESU's -.071. Dani McHenry's kill gave Washburn its third straight point at 28-19 before two of ESU's 13 attack errors sealed the game.

Washburn had 20 kills and hit a match-high .314 to take the second game. Back-to-back kills by McHenry and Anna Byers gave Washburn the game.

Despite hitting just .100 in game three and fell behind 8-7 early. The Lady Blues capped off a 7-point run to make it 14-8 on ESU's fourth straight attacking error. Emily Foster's kill gave Washburn the victory.

McHenry led the Lady Blues with 15 kills, while Foster added 14 kills and a team-high 17 digs. Monica Miesner added eight kills in 15 attempts. Julie Sackman had 36 assists.

Washburn, which improved to 26-5 and finished in third in the MIAA with a 12-4 mark, travels to Drury Tuesday at 7 p.m.

The Lady Blues will also host an MIAA Postseason match for the first time in school history 7 p.m. Tuesday Nov. 9 as the No. 3 seed. They will host Emporia State, Missouri Southern or Northwest Missouri State which are fighting for the Nos. 5 and 6 seeds.
