Lady Blues sweep MSSU

TOPEKA - The No. 15 Washburn volleyball team swept Missouri Southern 30-24, 30-25, 30-24 in Lee Arena Saturday night. The Lady Blues improved to 22-4 and 9-3 in the MIAA.

Washburn led most of game one and clinched the victory on Katie Brandt's kill. The Lady Blues followed with a win in game two on a kill by Emily Foster after taking an early 17-9 lead. Washburn hit .297 with 17 kills in 37 attempts in game two and held off Southern in game three. Anna Byers' kill gave WU the victory.

Dani McHenry led Washburn with 18 kills, while Emily Foster added 11 kills. Wendy Kobbeman had 16 digs.

Washburn is back in action 7 p.m. Friday night at Southwest Baptist. The Lady Blues complete their weekend 1 p.m. Saturday at Pittsburg State.
