TOPEKA - The Washburn volleyball team topped Missouri Southern 28-30, 30-18, 30-25, 30-23 in the MIAA Tournament opener in Lee Arena Tuesday night.

Emily Foster led Washburn with 23 kills, while Wendy Kobbeman had 25 digs. Monica Meisner, Dani McHenry and Katie Brandt had 11 kills apiece. Julie Sackman had 58 assists.

Washburn fill face Central Missouri State 7 p.m. Thursday in Warrensburg, Mo in the seminfinals.
