Nov. 11, 2004 - OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - The Washburn volleyball team had five players named the the All-MIAA Volleyball squad, which was announced by the conference Thursday.
Dani McHenry and Emily Foster were named to the first team, while Katie Brandt was named to the second team. Julie Sackman and Wendy Kobbeman were named to the honorable mention team.
McHenry, a 6-0 senior outside hitter from Topeka, has 488 kills (4.40 kills/game), 377 digs (3.40 digs/game), and 83 blocks (0.75 blocks/game). Her 4.4 kills per game average this season would break the team record of 4.26 kill per game she had last season. She is fourth all-time in Washburn history with 1,445 career kills. She is a three-time first team All-MIAA selection.
Foster, a 5-7 senior outside hitter from Meriden, Kan., has 469 kills (4.19 kills/game), 415 digs (3.71 digs/game) and a team-high 62 aces. She is hitting .292 for the season and was named AVCA Division II National Player of the Week on Oct. 4.
Brandt, a 6-1 senior middle hitter from Chicago, Ill., has a team-high .312 hitting percentage with 367 kills (3.25 kills/game) and a team-high 141 blocks (1.25 blocks/game). She is 10th all-time Washburn history with 358 total career blocks and eighth in solo blocks with 84.
Kobbeman, a 5-7 senior libero from Topeka, has a team-high 500 digs (4.46 digs/game) and 29 service aces. She has 1106 career digs, which ranks 10th in Washburn history.
Sackman, a 5-10 sophomore from Independence, Mo., has 948 assists (10.9 assists per game), 182 digs (2.09 digs/game) and 21 service aces. She was named MIAA Setter of the Week twice this season.
The Lady Blues, who are 28-5 overall and ranked No. 16 in the latest AVCA Poll, face No. 10 Central Missouri State tonight at the CMSU Multipurpose Building.
